ICAA - DESIGN IN MIND
Unlocking the Mysteries of Place with Gil Schafer
Long Form Documentary: Creative / Production / Post
Since the mid 2010’s, the Institute of Classical Art & Architecture sought a way to support a long-form original content series that would bring attention to the non-profit in ways traditional video marketing couldn’t.
Accordingly, Surrender Pictures developed Design in Mind , a series focused on exploring the work of various artists across a range of mediums who all follow the core principle of keeping classical design integrated into their process. From filmmakers and architects, to interior designers, the 30 minute episodes we’ve produced - pitch to delivery - now have a comfortable home on PBS, with the next installment slated for release next year.
In this episode, we explore the work and practice of celebrated architect Gil Schafer and how place - landscape and the nostalgia it provokes - influences the design practices of all projects Gil, and his firm Schafer Buccellato Architects take on.
